Practical training for students of the Georgian Patriarchate Community College of Decorative Gardening was held in Jighaura

A practical training session on the pruning and shaping of grapevines and fruit crops was held for students of the Decorative Gardening Community College of the Patriarchate of Georgia at the Jighaura base of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. The training aimed to support vocational education and strengthen practical skills.

The students visited Jighaura within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the parties.

The representatives of the Viticulture and Winemaking Research Division, Davit Chichua and Nikoloz Kirvalidze, introduced the students to the biological principles of grapevine pruning, modern shaping systems, and the importance of proper vineyard management in the context of maintaining yield and quality.

The representatives of the Fruit Crop Research Division, Elene Maghlakelidze and Lali Goginava, presented practical approaches to the pruning and shaping of fruit and berry crops. The training covered the specifics of pruning based on the age characteristics of the plants, proper plant formation and the principles of regulating productivity.

The students visited the ampelographic and fruit collection plantations at the Jighaura base and learned about the center's research activities and the importance of protecting plant genetic resources.
