International Scientific Conference - Plant genetic resources: opportunities and challenges.

The conference was held on May 22-24, 2024 in Tbilisi, organized by the Scientific Research Center of Agriculture, with the financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia - Project # MG ISE 23 2161.
After the Plenary session three sections were held:
1. Management and utilization of plant genetic resources for sustainable agriculture;
2. Wild plant genetic resources, conservation and ecosystem services;
3. Climate change and plant biodiversity.
About 150 scientists and researchers from 14 countries of the world participated in the conference. 104 theses were presented (65 Georgian, 39 foreign), the number of authors' theses was 260.
Bilingual Collection of abstracts in Georgian and English were published.
● BOOK OF ABSTRACTS

The purpose of the International Conference was to share and disseminate scientific knowledge and current achievements of international and regional countries in the direction of plant sustainable management and conservation of biodiversity, which is important not only from a scientific point of view, but also from a practical point view. The conference also aimed to establish close and long-term cooperation among experts in this field from different countries, as well as to raise awareness of need for sustainable management of genetic resources; which is an important component for achieving practical results.
