The scientific conference and meeting with students on the World Day of Soil was held

Giorgi Ghambashidze spoke about the peculiarities of soil formulation and characteristics of soil fertility, which are given specialty production in the growth and development of the vine and substantially affects the quantity of harvest and the quality of the wine produced. The part of the lecture was dedicated to the introduction of visual diagnostic methods, which are used to determine vines’ culture with macro and micro elements.
The Scientific Conference was held at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Georgia with participation of the soil fertility research department of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. Their reports on the condition of the soil of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Kvemo-Kartli villages were underlined and emphasized the main factors that result in accumulation of excess pollutants in the soil. The report estimated the possible risk of transition from the soil to the pollutants.
Nowadays, one-third of the soils are degraded. Soil pollution is a global problem that increases with population growth. The main reason for pollution is agriculture, mining and industrial activities and unprocessed urban waste.
World Soil Day, with the decision of UN Food and Agriculture Organization's has been celebrated since 2013 and its purpose is to inform the population about the importance of soil protection. 2018 is a year of fighting against soil contamination.
