Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Lasha Dolidze got acquainted with the ongoing work at the Jighaura base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture

Lasha Dolidze inspected the collection plots and screen greenhouses created at the Jighaura base for the purpose of preserving and disseminating agrobiodiversity and genetic resources. The Deputy Minister got acquainted with the updated modern laboratory infrastructure, which ensures the study of annual and perennial agricultural crops in compliance with international standards and placement in the national plant catalog based on reliable and valid research on ampelographic, pomological, ecophysiological, chemical, microbiological, bacterial, viral and phytoplasma diseases.
The seminar discussed issues of developing nursery infrastructure in the agricultural sector. It was noted that there is a possibility of supplying planting material for grapes and fruit crops to qualified nurseries from greenhouses, the so-called "screen houses", located at the Jighaura base.
These activities will ensure the improvement of the seed and planting material certification system created in the country, accelerate the process of its harmonization with international systems and supply the local market with quality products. The results of scientific and research work will be actively used to provide farmers with modern agro-innovative products, rationally plan state incentive projects and develop monitoring capabilities.
The working meeting held at the Jighaura base was attended by the Deputy Minister, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Policy of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Ekaterine Zviadadze, Head of the Plant Development Division Nodar Khokhashvili, Head of the Livestock Development Division Gvantsa Bezhanishvili, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Center Nodar Khatiashvili, and heads of the Center's structural units.
