In case of international standards, nursery farms will be involved in the certification process of the planting material

The representatives of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture visited the nursery farms in the Kakheti region to determine their qualification. In case of international standards, nursery farming will be able to engage in the certification process of the planting materials.

The process of voluntary certification of the planting material will start this year and will be implemented by the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.

The specialists will conduct field inspection based on the application made by the Division of Standardization, Certification, Planning and Economic Analysis of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. Based on the results of laboratory analysis (viruses, soil) and field inspection results, a variety of planting quality certificates will be issued.

The establishment of nursery farming qualification has been implemented since 2017. At this stage, up to 80 nurseries are awarded throughout the country.

The certification process of the planting materials is regulated by the law on "Access and Maturity for Distribution of Agricultural Cultures of Subordinate Certification." The law entered into force on June 1, 2017 and regulates relations related to the production, reproduction, processing, certification, realization, traceability and localization and also the relationship between the imported and local seeds and planting material.
