The University of California will provide assistance in evaluating Georgia's phytosanitary risks

The representatives of California State University and US Department of Agriculture (USDA) met with Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture Levan Ujmajuridze and specialists of the Center. At the meeting, the sides focused on the phytosanitary challenges in Georgia, the fight against the brown marmorated stink bug and the preventive measures against other pests.

According to the American side, their main goal is to strengthen policy and retraining of specialists in terms of plant protection in Georgia. Since 2019 the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture launches phytosanitary risk assessment, so it is important for the Center to assist in this direction.
