Nearly 30 wine factories have already tested the first Georgian dry yeast

The Specialists of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture held a presentation on agricultural and technical characteristics of the first Georgian dry yeast of wine at the meeting with local wine makers.

The yeast created by the scientists is a premium quality and it has already been discovered by nearly 30 wine factories in Georgia. At the meeting there was also a tasting of wines made with this yeast.

,,In Georgia, viticulture and winemaking is being successfully developed. For the country having 8,000 years of continuous history of winemaking, it is important to have Georgian cultural yeast. The work on Georgian dry yeast was continued in Georgia and Germany for years, its first trial we received in 2017, " - said Levan Ujmajuridze, director of the Agricultural Research Center of Agriculture.

It is noteworthy that the wines from European countries, mostly from France, are used to receive wine in Georgia. The yeast promotes the quality of wine and its organoleptic indicators, so specialists believe that the Georgian yeast exposes the uniqueness of Georgian wine.
