The Director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences Levan Ujmajuridze presented a report on the topic "Vine and Wheat Culture in Georgia" at the scientific session dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of Academician Vladimer Menabde

The report noted the role of Georgia as one of the important centers of ancient agriculture and the production of cultivated plants, where grapevines and wheat occupy a special place. The outstanding contribution of Academician Vladimir Menabde to the research of Georgian wheat and the heritage that still forms the basis of modern research and achievements were emphasized.

Special attention was paid to the activities of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture - projects implemented in the direction of conservation and research of Georgian wheat and grapevine genetic resources, collections preserved in the gene bank, the national ampelographic collection at the Jighaura base and certification of planting material.

The scientific session was attended by members of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, professors-scientists, specialists in the field and representatives of scientific institutions.
