Project "Promoting the production of Bio-Hazelnuts through Environmentally Safe, Innovative Means" Completed
The grant project implemented by the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture - "Promoting the production of bio-hazelnuts through environmentally safe, innovative means" was completed, during which the dominant pests and diseases of hazelnuts were identified, including 18 pathogenic microorganisms of hazelnuts. Project participants identified the role of the Asian pheasant in reducing nut rot and yield, as well as the biological agents of pests. As part of the project, a summer school was held for students on plant biological protection issues with the participation of a foreign collaborator. The brochure "Pest Diseases and their Management in Organic Farming" was published, the scientific articles and conference theses, as well as a 3-year agro-climatic database, were created.
The project "Promoting the production of bio-hazelnuts through environmentally safe, innovative means" is the winner of the 2017 State Scientific Grants Fundamental Research Competition funded by Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation, which was headed by Manana Kereselidze, a representative of the Center's Integrated Plant Protection Research Department.
