Certification, traceability and use of guaranteed quality raw materials in order for the future results to be predictable, for the farmers not to work in vain and for the efforts made by our fellow citizens to yield results” - said Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

Seeds and planting material will be subject to mandatory certification in 2024 within the framework of fulfillment of the obligations under the Association Agreement with Europe. The development of the breeding sector in the country and the promotion of quality control is one of the priority directions. A well-organized system of certification of seed and planting material provides consumers with quality material, which is an important basis for increasing productivity and export potential, increasing competitiveness and attracting investment.

The Scientific-Research center of Agriculture has been implementing a project to introduce a seed material certification system in Georgia since 2015, to which planting material certification was added in 2017. A national catalog has been created, which includes a list of agricultural crops allowed for distribution in Georgia and / or experienced for agricultural use.

"Environmental Protection and Rural Development 2030" - long-term vision was presented today by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili. The Minister spoke in detail about the directions of the development vision.
