Representatives of Vassal-Monpellier Grapevine Biological Resource Center visit Jigaura experimental-demonstration base

The representatives and masters of the University of Montpellier, France visited the experimental demonstration base of the Jigaura perennial crops of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. The guests toured the Jigaura grapevinevine collection, got acquainted with Georgian viticulture and winemaking and tasted wines made from rare Georgian vine varieties.

It should be noted that Jigaura base is located on an area of 80 hectares. Up to 470 Georgian and 350 foreign vine varieties are preserved in the collection, including a collection of unique and rare varieties of Georgian vines, which have been searched and restored for a long time. In parallel with the restoration of the vine varieties, the center makes wines from rare vine varieties and further studies on them.
