Collaboration has launched between the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture and the Spanish Research Institute for Grapevine and Wine Sciences

The Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture and the Spanish Research Institute for Grapevine and Wine Sciences (CSIC) have launched a scientific and practical cooperation, which includes the development and implementation of joint projects in various areas of viticulture-winemaking.

CSIC researchers paid a working visit to Georgia, where they have seen the ampelographic collection of Jighaura vines and together with the staff of the center, took samples for analysis of the Georgian gene pool and genetic studies of vine varieties.

n parallel with genetic research, the project plans to conduct joint phytosanitary studies of plants to detect common vine diseases in the region and assess the general condition. For this purpose, representatives of the Spanish Research Institute for Grapevine and Wine Sciences took samples in different regions of Georgia.

The working visit of CSIC researchers to Georgia was supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
