The representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara visited the Jighaura base
The employees and interns of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Adjara visited the experimental-demonstration base of perennial crops of Jighaura of the Scientific Research Center of Agriculture. As part of the agro tour "Introduction of educational and scientific practices", the guests viewed the collection of Georgian vines and tasted wines made from rare Georgian grapevines."From the point of view of staff training, knowledge deepening and familiarization with the innovations in the field, the Scientific-Research Center with demonstration and laboratory bases represents the best infrastructure", said Levan Bolkvadze, head of the Department of Agrarian Development of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Adjara.
Within the framework of the agro-tour, the future agronomists also visited the trial base of one-year crops in Tsilkani, got acquainted with the work and current researches of the laboratory of the microclonal (IN VITRO) reproduction of plants and virus-free planting material research division.
About 470 Georgian and 350 foreign varieties of vines, more than 120 forms of wild grapevines, 42 local and more than 270 introduced varieties of seed, stone fruit, nuts and berry crops are preserved in the collection plantation at the experimental-demonstration base of perennial crops in Jighaura. In order to interest, attract, train and involve young personnel in the agrarian field, meetings and trainings with specialists are held regularly on the bases of the Center.
