Members of the delegation of the scientific-research and educational universities of viticulture- winemaking of the world visited the Jighaura base

Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, met with members of the delegation of scientific-research and educational universities of viticulture- winemaking. The delegation included: professors and experts of viticulture -winemaking from the leading universities of Spain, Chile, Uruguay, Montevideo and South Africa.

At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of joint scientific activities in the direction of viticulture-winemaking. It was noted that this type of cooperation contributes to the promotion of Georgian vines and wine in the international educational and scientific space.

"Since its establishment, the center has been cooperating with scientific-research and educational universities of viticulture-winemaking of the world. Within the framework of the meeting, future cooperation was planned with the leading universities of South America, which envisages the implementation of joint researches in viticulture and winemaking", - said the Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, Levan Ujmajuridze.

Within the framework of the visit to Georgia, the members of the delegation visited the collection of Georgian vines at the base of Jighaura and got acquainted with wines made from rare varieties of Georgian grapes.

The visit of the delegation was organized by the international project of the Technical University of Georgia - "VitaGlobal - internationalization of joint educational programs of agriculture and viticulture-winemaking", which includes professors and experts of viticulture -winemaking from the leading universities of Chile, Uruguay, Montevideo, South Africa, Spain, Argentina, Italy, Portugal and France.

Within the framework of the 5-day working visit, the members of the delegation held meetings with wine producers in Kakheti, where they discussed the issues of private sector involvement in viticulture-winemaking educational programs.
