Georgian scientists made a report on the rare species of Georgian forests at the scientific conference held in Portugal

At the international scientific conference held in Evora, Portugal, the representatives of the Agroforestry Crops Research Division of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture made a report on the rare species of the forests of Georgia. Georgian scientists presented the results of research carried out within the framework of the ongoing project "Study of rare and relict species of Georgian forest and creation of an electronic database" with the financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Within the framework of the project, the creation of an electronic data base on 18 species, ex-situ conservation, molecular-genetic and morphometric studies are underway.

Within the framework of the scientific conference, scientists took part in a field expedition, where they got to know the experience of Portugal. The conference was organized by the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations (IUFRO) and scientists from different countries took part in it.
