A tasting of dry fruits was held at the Scientific-Research Center

A tasting of dry fruits was held within the framework of the project "Technologies of drying some prospective stone-fruits" organized by the Storage-Processing Research division of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. The purpose of the tasting was to reveal promising varieties for drying of perennial fruit crops of Jighaura.
The dry fruit tasting was led by Nazi Melanashvili, the representative of the Storage-Processing Research division of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. At the tasting, 13 samples of dried plums and cherries were presented, which were evaluated with a 15-point system based on taste and visual indicators.
When summarizing the evaluation of the samples, the tasting committee's approval and the highest rating were earned by plum (Jojo, Amers, Sugar Top) and cherry - Shpanka, Carneuli Montmorency) varieties.
In order to increase the assortment of dried fruits in the local market and to share relevant recommendations for producers, the study of promising varieties for the production of dry fruits, the place of their cultivation, the characteristics of the variety and antioxidant activities is ongoing at the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.
