A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture and the Australian company "Bents Road Winery Pty Ltd"

Bents Road Winery (BRW), which was founded in 2000, is located in Ballandean, South-East Queensland, one of the coldest regions of Australia. Due to the relatively cold climate, the wine there develops an organoleptic profile typical of European varieties. It is worth noting that the company also works with Qvevri wine and is actively promoting Saperavi.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, the Scientific-Research Center will issue relevant recommendations on Georgian grape varieties that will be suitable for the production of premium table wines in the Granite Belt (Queensland).

Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, introduced the members of the Australian delegation to the local and international scientific projects underway at the center, which deal with the search for local Georgian grape varieties, identification, microvinification and related issues.

The Head of the Viticulture and Wine-making Division, David Chichua, presented wines made from rare Georgian grape varieties produced at the Jighaura base to the Australian guests. The guests also viewed the ampelographic collection at the Jighaura base and learned about the characteristics of vine pruning and formation, which will help them in the proper management of Georgian grape varieties grown in Australia.
