Rare varieties of vine were planted in the yard of Sameba Holy Trinity Cathedral

LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture granted the Georgian Apostolic Autocephalous Church with unique varieties of Georgian vine from Jigaura demonstrative base, which were planted in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Sameba.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture – Iuri Nozadze and Director of the SRCA – Levan Ujmajuridze, together with Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-klarjeti, Theodore and the Patriarch’s secretary, Archpriest Michael Botkoveli planted the vineyards, spread in the regions of Georgia, in the yard of Sameba Holy Trinity Cathedral.

LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture transferred the rare vineyards to the Patriarchate Marani, which were located in the area of Marani, near Lisi Lake.

It should be noted that between the Georgian Apostolic Autocephalous Church and Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture was signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April, 2016. The purpose of the Memorandum is to search and cultivate the endemic varieties of vine and the popularization of the local, unique varieties of vine, as well as the scientific research of traditional methods of viticulture and introduction of their results in practice.
