Farmers get acquainted with measures to fight against Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

The measured to fight against brown marmorated stink bug were introduced to farmers in Martvili, Senaki, Abasha, Chkhorotsku and Tsalenjikha municipalities of Samegrelo region. Within the framework of the joint project ,,Mobile Extension’’ of the Ministry of Agriculture and LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, specialists visited the gardens and plots of the locals and provided information on the methods of fighting against pests and on the cultivation of cereal crops and hazelnut gardens.

Within the framework of the project ,,Mobile Extension’’, representatives of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture and employees of the Regional Information and Consulting Centers have consulted all local municipalities of Samegrelo and rural farmers in western Georgia in August.

It should be noted that the National Food Agency has been treated 53 thousand hectares of hazelnut growing areas on the first stage within the framework of the State Program with high quality bifenthrin group preparations. The second stage of the event is intensively underway in villages of Samegrelo, Imereti and Guria municipalities. At the second stage, it is planned to cultivate totally 50 thousand hectares.
