Destruction of bee families in Western Georgia is caused by Vespula Vulgaris attack

The beekeepers and entomologists of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture have studied the reasons for the destruction of bee families in western Georgia. As a result of the inspection of the bee families, it was determined that their destruction was caused by a large number of wild waps (Vespula Vulgaris). Specialists of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture presented information to bee-keepers about medicinal drugs and biologic activities. The wasp (Vespula Vulgaris) seriously harms the bee families, attacks the beehives, kills the bees and steals honey.

The specialists use tricky trap to protect the bee families. If Vespula Vulgaris’s mass attack has already occurred, the entrance part of the beehive should be sprayed by different chemical aerosols or synthetic mixtures (alpaki, alpogri, aktari, ace, best alpha, bing, box, brand d -550 and other), the sliding or burning of the wasp must be done. According to specialists, it is necessary to land on the 250-meter diameter of the stack, as the wasp nest can be put into the ground. In case of detecting the nest, it is necessary to spray by insecticide.

The specialists advise to beekeepers an effective and easy method of fighting, which all bee-keepers can use: the roof of the bottle is pierced at 2,5-3 mm, weighing 20-30 grams slightly to the sweet syrup (the soured syrup does not attract the bees ) and we put it near the beehive. The wasp (Vespula Vulgaris) climbs in the bottle and can’t get back. We can also use the same principle for deceiving the wasp, we can use a 1-2 teaspoon of honey in 0.5 liters of beer.
