Employees of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture have published a new book on fruit growing direction

The book "Georgian Fruits: New Varieties and Their Peculiarities" was published by Zviad Bobokashvili and Elene Maghlakelidze, employees of the Fruit Growing Division of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. The paper contains information on 71 perspective fruit varieties imported to Georgia and describes the biological properties and agricultural characteristics of apple, pear, peach, plum, walnut, apricot, cherry and almond varieties.

The book was published within the framework of a grant of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, it summarizes the work done by the Fruit Growing Division for 4 years. The urgency of the book is due to the import of many varieties of fruits from abroad in the last 20 years. Fruit Growing Division continues research, by 2021, information on the next 70 varieties will be collected.

The book is intended for both amateur gardeners, as well as professional fruit-growers, students and agro-consultants. The authors dedicated the paper to their teachers, Georgian scientists in the field of fruit growing, Mikheil Vardzelashvili and Sharden Akhvlediani. The book will be available in scientific libraries and universities of Georgia and the digital version will be available on the website of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.
