The Representatives of the International Media Visited the Jighaura Base

Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Scientific-Research Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, met with leading specialists, critics and journalists in the field of world viticulture-winemaking.

Levan Ujmajuridze provided information about the current and future scientific-practical activities of the Scientific-Research Center, the search and recovery of Georgian grape varieties, wine-making and research on them to representatives of the international media from famous and influential publications, wine experts and critics.

"The visit of leading specialists, critics and journalists of the world viticulture-wine-making in Georgia is another important activity in terms of raising the awareness of the Georgian vine and wine culture, which will contribute to the dissemination of information about the uniqueness of the ancient, local Georgian grape varieties on a worldwide scale," - said the Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.

"Georgian wine really has great potential. We got acquainted with Kvevri wine production in Georgia. The unique collection of Jighaura is really a discovery for us. We have a great desire to get to know Georgian winemaking and viticulture even more closely," - said Evening Standard journalist from Great Britain, Douglas Blyde.

It should be noted that in the collection plantation of Jighaura, up to 470 Georgian and 350 foreign grape varieties are preserved, including a collection of unique and rare Georgian grape varieties.

In order to popularize Georgian wine, the initiative of inviting the leading specialists, critics and journalists of the field from different countries of the world belongs to the Georgian businessman, the founder of the "Askaneli" company, Gocha Chkhaidze.
