Levan Ujmajuridze, director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, participated in the first meeting of the working group of the European Cooperative Program for Plant Genetic Resources (ESPGR) on cryopreservation held in Prague.

In his speech at the meeting, Levan Ujmajuridze spoke about the current situation of protection of plant genetic resources in the country, the measures taken by the state in this direction, the legislative framework, the living collections in the ecosystems, the center and other agencies, in vitro conservation, also about the state of seed genetic banks, future international cooperation and others.

Levan Ujmajuridze held a meeting with Mikulas Madara, director of the Scientific Institute of Plant Genetic Resources of the Czech Republic and with the heads of the scientific department, where attention was focused on the modern directions of protection of plant genetic resources, training of young specialists, on the implementation of joint international projects, conferences and various directions of mutual cooperation.

Within the scope of the working visit, the director of the Center had the opportunity to visit various experimental test bases, a microvinification enterprise, scientific laboratories, a seed genetic bank and others.
