The Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, with the financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, implements the project "Monitoring and management of blueberry orchards in Georgian conditions", the main goal of which is to detect pests and develop an integrated system to combat them.

Within the framework of the project, in the main regions of blueberry production in Western Georgia, agro-biocenological monitoring of blueberry, detection of the main pests (insects, diseases, weeds) and determining the intensity of damage, as well as increasing soil fertility and drawing up phenocalendar schemes are planned.

At this stage, monitoring of blueberry orchards has already started in Samegrelo, Guria and Adjara regions.

It should be noted that blueberry production in Georgia started in 2006. A large part of the harvest is being exported.
