Deputy Ambassador of Germany Tanja Hutt: "The scientific research center is doing a great job in terms of viticulture and winemaking"

The representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany visited the Jighaura Perennial Crops Trial and Demonstration Base in order to get acquainted with the history of viticulture and winemaking in Georgia, Georgian varieties of grapes and the activities of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. The guests viewed the collection of Georgian grape varieties named after Academician Solomon Cholokashvili and tasted wines made from Georgian varieties.

,,Georgian wine, in recent years, has been very successful in the German market, we see that exports are also increasing. I got to know many wines from different regions of Georgia, but it was interesting to see the grape varieties preserved in the center. It is important to see what the center is doing and to hear about its future plans. I believe that the Scientific-Research Center is doing a great job in terms of viticulture and winemaking" - said the deputy ambassador of Germany, Tanja Hutt.

The trial-demonstration base of perennial crops of Jighaura is located on an area of 80 ha, where, together with foreign grape varieties, unique and rare Georgian grape varieties are preserved.
