The ambassador of Israel visited a modern greenhouse built with the funding of the Israeli embassy

The Israeli ambassador to Georgia, Hadas Ester Meitzad, visited the greenhouse of modern technology built under the MASHAV program with the financing of the Embassy of Israel at the annual crops trial-demonstration base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, Tsilkani, and got acquainted with the current works. The modern greenhouse is equipped with ventilation, fertigation and drip irrigation systems, at this stage the introduction of hydroponics technology (an innovative method of growing plants without soil) is underway.

,,Our cooperation will continue in the form of seminars and trainings, which we plan to start from October. Experts will come from Israel to share their experience with farmers. We are also ready to help the Georgian side in the direction of introducing other modern technologies available in Israel,"- said Israeli Ambassador Hadas Ester Meitzad.

The main purpose of the greenhouse is to train young farmers and organize seminars and trainings for them. Here, agronomists and experts from different countries will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with each other.

The guests also visited the Soil Fertility Research Laboratory named after professor Ivane Sarishvili at the base of Tsilkani, where since 2017 a comprehensive soil research has been carried out, based on which soil is evaluated for agricultural activities and its fertility level is determined.
