Students from Geisenheim University visited the Jighaura Scientific Research Station

The director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, Professor Levan Ujmajuridze, introduced the main activities of the center and current scientific research directions to the students of the Viticulture and Enology Department of Geisenheim University.
The meeting focused on the educational environment and practical opportunities that the Center offers to both Georgian and foreign students for research activities, practical training and professional development.
The students toured the research laboratories, the collective vineyard and learned about the diversity of local grape varieties on site.
At the Vine and Wine Exhibition Space, Nikoloz Kirvalidze, a representative of the Viticulture and Winemaking Division of the Scientific- Research Center of Agriculture, presented the history, traditions and cultural values of the development of Georgian viticulture and winemaking to the guests.
At the end of the visit, a tasting of wines produced from rare Georgian grape varieties was held, led by Professor David Chichua, who introduced the students in detail to the features of the traditional Georgian method of making and aging wine in a qvevri.
The students' visit to the bases of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center Agriculture was carried out within the framework of the international educational summer program organized by Geisenheim University. The goal of this program is to share international experience in the field of viticulture and winemaking and to deepen the professional competencies of students.
The Jighaura base of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture is an educational and research space of international importance, which offers Georgian and foreign students the opportunity to study the peculiarities of Georgian viticulture and winemaking, develop research skills and establish professional connections.
