Cooperation with Uzbekistan in the direction of viticulture is deepening

The Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture starts cooperation with the Scientific-Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking named after Academician M. Mirzaev in the direction of the exchange of genetic resources of grapes and perennial crops.

The Memorandum of Understanding involves the sharing of international standards for the implementation of the planting material certification system, the promotion of nursery project development, the sharing of in vitro propagation rules and modern technologies of storage and processing, as well as the organization of joint seminars and conferences.

"The main goal of our visit is to share the experience of Georgia in the direction of viticulture and winemaking and to introduce it in Uzbekistan. We are planning to set up a nursery on the base of our institute, for which we would like to exchange vine varieties. Georgian varieties will be tested in the conditions of Uzbekistan," said Ulugbek Abduganiev, director of the Scientific -Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking named after M.Mirzaev.

Within the scope of the visit, the guests viewed the fruit crops and grapevine collections at the Jighaura Perennial Crops Trial and Demonstration Base and also got acquainted with the work of soil research, seed and planting material and in vitro laboratories at the Tsilkani Annual Crops Base. The members of the delegation were also in the wine laboratory named after Irma Chanturia LLC, whose main function is laboratory control of wine and grape products and technical support of wine producers.
