The International Scientific Conference "Plant Genetic Resources: Opportunities and Challenges" has ended

Within the framework of the conference, Georgian scientists and international experts discussed the issues of management and use of plant genetic resources in sustainable agriculture, conservation of genetic resources of wild flora, as well as eco-services, development of joint scientific projects and future cooperation.

After the two-day plenary sessions and thematic sessions, the international experts participating in the conference visited the wine museum and cellar at the National Wine Agency, they got acquainted with the ongoing projects and research activities at the Tsilkani and Jighaura experimental-demonstration bases of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. The conference delegates visited the collection of Georgian grape varieties named after Academician Solomon Cholokashvili and tasted wines made from rare Georgian grape varieties.

The scientific conference "Plant Genetic Resources: Opportunities and Challenges" was held on May 22-24, under the organization of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture and the financial support of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. About 150 scientists and researchers from 14 countries of the world attended the conference.
