A scientist of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture took part in the program organized by Geisenheim University
Tekle Zakalashvili, head of the Research Division for micro-clonal (in vitro) propagation of plants and virus-free planting material of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, took part in the program ,,Challenges and opportunities - sustainability as an integral part of 21st century viticulture and winemaking’’ at the invitation of the Geisenheim University in Germany.Geisenheim University professors held seminars on the following topics: plant propagation, obtaining varieties resistant to vine diseases, production of non-alcoholic beverages and others. The purpose of the program is to share the international experience in the sector and promote its implementation in the participating countries.
Tekle Zakalashvili participated in the "Future Symposium" ("Zukunftsymposium"), where სhe introduced Geisenheim University students and other participants of the program to the current processes in the agricultural field of Georgia and the potential of the field. The Georgian side also held a wine tasting on the spot, where international students and professors were introduced to Georgian wine and the history of Georgian viticulture and winemaking.
Within the framework of the program, visits to test bases, laboratories, local wineries and cellars were organized in the Rheingau region.
The mentioned programs contribute to the formation of close relations between the countries, as well as to the deepening of cooperation in the direction of scientific research between agricultural organizations and educational institutions.
