A scientific delegation from Michigan State University visited the Jighaura Base

A scientific delegation from the Michigan State University, led by Parker Jones, Innovation Counsellor Community, Food and Environment Institute  Michigan State University Extension product center, visited the base of perennial crops of Jighaura of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture. At the meeting held with the members of the delegation, the conversation touched on the possibilities of deepening and expanding relations in the field of viticulture and wine-making.
,,Together with the members of the university delegation, we discussed the scientific projects to be implemented in the future, which are related to the protection of grapevine genetic resources, selection processes, selection of promising phylloxera-resistant vine rootstocks adapted to climatic and soil conditions, development of wine tourism, etc. It will concern joint activities in this direction," said Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.
The parties agreed that in the near future joint projects of scientific development of viticulture and winemaking between Michigan and Georgia will be implemented. For this purpose, the Georgian delegation will be invited to Michigan State University.
At the end of the visit, the guests, together with the head of the Scientific Research Division of Viticulture and Wine-making of the same center, David Chichua, tasted the wines produced at the base from rare Georgian grape varieties.
