Georgian grape varieties were planted on the holy Mount Athos
Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, participated in the planting of seedlings of a local Georgian grape variety, together with the Georgian delegation, on the territory of the "Georgian Cell" of the Archangels Church located near the Vatopedi Monastery Complex on Mount Athos.During the visit, more than 500 grafted seedlings of 30 varieties of Georgian grapevines were planted on the territory of the cell. It is noteworthy that the planting of the seedlings took place on November 13, the day of commemoration of 100,000 Georgian martyrs.
Along with grape varieties, the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture also donated seed material of 10 species and varieties of local Georgian wheat to the monastery.
The visit of the Georgian delegation was organized by Giorgi Andriadze, Head of the Research Center of Ethnogenetics of Georgia, and Gela Japaridze, Consul General of Georgia in Thessaloniki.
