A representative of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture participated in the meeting of the Global Information System Committee

The sixth meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Global Information System was held in Rome, Italy, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources (ITPGRFA). Tamar Jinjikhadze, Head of the Standards, Certification, Planning and Economic Analysis Division of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, participated in the event.

At the meeting, Tamar Jinjikhadze presented the work carried out in Georgia within the framework of the ongoing project supported by FAO, the achieved results and the prospects for future cooperation. Special attention was paid to the issues of protection and mobilization of plant genetic resources, which concerns the management of national genebank data and integration with international platforms.

Cooperation with several important information systems is planned, including the European Search Catalogue for Plant Genetic Resources (EURISCO) and European Genebank Information System (AEGIS), which will contribute to better management of Georgia's genetic resources and their recognition by international science.
