An Offsite session of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Issues was held at the Jighaura base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture

Interns from the parliamentary of Georgia and members of the Youth Parliament also attended an offsite session of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Issues of Georgia at the Jighaura Perennial Crops Base of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.

As part of the event, the Director of the Center, Levan Ujmajuridze, delivered a presentation that included both the ongoing activities at the Jighaura base and the strategic directions of the Center as a whole, the results achieved during 2024, and future visions. The importance of the Scientific-Research Center in the development of the country's agricultural sector, the protection of agrobiodiversity, and the promotion of innovative approaches was emphasized.

The event taking place at the Jighaura base was joined by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Shalva Papuashvili, Mr. Giorgi Volski, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, and Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, who, together with Levan Ujmajuridze, spoke about the strategic importance of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture in a meeting format with youth.

Special attention was paid to the role of agricultural science, education and innovation in the development of the country. The invited guests emphasized the need for the involvement of the younger generation in scientific and practical processes, which is an important prerequisite for the sustainable and progressive development of the agricultural sector of Georgia.

The guests visited the unique collection of the Jighaura base - grapevine and fruit crop varieties, as well as the center's laboratories and the newly renovated museum space, which visually emphasizes the centuries-old traditions of Georgian viticulture and horticulture.
