A workshop on Agrometeorological Modeling and Risk Assessment of Drought was held

A two-day workshop-seminar was held within the framework of a joint project of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The seminar on the topic "Agrometeorological Modeling and Risk Assessment of Drought for Leading Agricultural Crops in Georgian Conditions" aimed to model future global climate change scenarios and deepen practical skills in crop forecast analysis based on them.

The seminar, using targeted specialized programs, introduced modern drought risk assessment methodologies using the example of selected agricultural crops (wheat, potato, tomato, grape, apple). The seminar was attended by the project's international expert, Professor Tim Hess, local experts in the field, researchers, and representatives of relevant agencies.

Participants learned about the basics of modeling based on real agro-technological data and the possibilities of using the modern software product AquaCrop in the agro-climatic conditions of Georgia.

At the end of the event, a summary-discussion was held, where participants shared their experiences and opinions on the practical components of the interaction between climate change and agriculture. Special attention was paid to integrating substantiated conclusions obtained as a result of modeling into future agricultural research and planning of program documents.
