Italian National Television is preparing a story about Georgian viticulture and wine culture on Jighaura Base

A film crew from Italian National Television, scientists from the Marche Polytechnic University, and representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) visited the Jighaura base of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture to prepare a story about Georgian viticulture and wine culture.

The guests toured the unique collection of Jighaura grapevines, the laboratories on the base, and the Vine and Wine Museum space. In parallel with the filming, Italian television recorded an interview with Levan Ujmajuridze, the director of the Scientific-Research Center, who focused on the importance of international cooperation:

The Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture has been closely cooperating with both Italian scientists and FAO for many years. We have jointly implemented a number of important projects and we especially appreciate the support that Georgian science and agriculture have from international partners," - noted Levan Ujmajuridze. Special attention was paid to the diversity of Georgian grape varieties; the impact of climate change on agricultural crops, and the related mitigation projects implemented by the Center were discussed.

The visit was attended by Francesco Solfanelli, Professor of Agricultural Economics at the Polytechnic University of Marche; Luca Pallotti, a postdoctoral researcher at the same university whose research area is modern vineyard management approaches in the context of climate change; and Guido Agostinucci, Manager of the ENPARD IV Program of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
