Austrian students visited the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture

Students of the Wine Marketing Master's Program of the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences (Austria) visited the Jighaura base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.

The Austrian youth were met by the Director of the Center, Professor Levan Ujmajuridze. He introduced the students to information about the educational and scientific-research programs underway at the Center's facilities, in which master's students are actively involved.

Senior Professor of the Viticulture and Wine-making Research Division, David Chichua, introduced the students in detail to the current state of Georgian grapevine genetic resources, as well as the main activities for their discovery, study and protection.

The Austrian guests got acquainted with the ongoing work in the collection and mother plots of grape varieties, toured the Georgian Vine and Wine Museum, and tasted wine samples made from local grape varieties, which gave the Austrian youth the opportunity to learn about the history of the origin, development, genetic diversity and quality characteristics of Georgian grapes.

It is noteworthy that this type of meeting has been held for Austrian students for the second year and serves to deepen international academic cooperation and popularize Georgian grapevines and wine.
