Women farmers visited the Mukhuri Beekeeping Experimental Base

The Mukhuri Beekeeping Experimental Base of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture was visited by Irma Apkhazava, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, representatives of the Agrarian Development Department, and about 20 female farmers from five municipalities of the region.

At the Mukhuri base, the guests were hosted by the Center's beekeeping specialist Nana Maisuradze and the employee of the Morphological-Exterior Research Laboratory Lali Chikovani. During the meeting, they provided a detailed introduction to the ongoing research activities in the field of beekeeping, ways to preserve the Georgian gray bee population, laboratory capabilities for identifying diseases, and the specifics of modern beekeeping.

The guests toured the test plots and bee hives on site, learned about the structural features of the hives and approaches adapted to local conditions. Special attention was paid to laboratory studies and their importance in the process of maintaining bee health and gene pool.

The visit was held within the framework of the 2025 sub-program “Provision of Agricultural Extension” of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara, within the framework of the event “For Successful Women Working in Agriculture”. The goal was to deepen the knowledge of women farmers, introduce them to modern agricultural practices, and strengthen cooperation with the scientific research center.
