Students and professors from HESˑSO University in Switzerland visited the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture

The professors and students from
the School of Viticulture and Enology of the Swiss HESˑSO
University within the framework of the "Summer University 2025" visited
the Jighaura base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.
The director of the Center, Prof.
Levan Ujmajuridze, introduced the guests to the main areas of the Center's
activities and emphasized the opportunities that the Center offers to young
people, including foreign students, in the field of research and practical
education. Special attention was paid to the abundance of local grape varieties
and the possibilities of their spread in the viticulture and winemaking
regions, in which the Center's scientists are actively involved.
The Swiss university students
toured the grape collection plots, laboratories, and the Vine and Wine Museum.
At the end of the visit, a tasting of wines made at the center from rare Georgian
grape varieties was held, where the guests had the opportunity to learn in
detail about the technological processes of making and bottling wine in a
qvevri and in the classical manner.
The visit was held within the
framework of the international program “Summer University 2025” organized by
the HESˑSO
University of Viticulture and Enology in Switzerland. Bachelor's and Master's
students from universities in various European countries participate in it. The
goal of the program is to share international experience in the field of
viticulture and enology and to increase professional competencies for young
people.
The Jighaura base provides
bachelor's, master's and doctoral students with the opportunity to learn
firsthand about the peculiarities of Georgian viticulture, deepen their
professional experience and develop international connections.
