National Scientific Conference "New Reality of Georgian Wheat" was held in Jighaura

The Deputy Minister thanked the initiators, organizers and all parties involved in the research. As Solomon Pavliashvili noted, the research opens up new opportunities for Georgian wheat.
The conference presented the results of a study that examined the broad spectrum of nutrient content of 5 endemic species and 7 local varieties of Georgian wheat. The research, initiated by Ekaterine Khvedelidze and Bidzina Ivanishvili, was conducted in a leading laboratory in Austria that meets modern scientific standards; financial support was provided by the International Charity Fund “Cartu”.
"Georgian wheat, part of the country's material heritage, is a major agricultural crop based on the richest agronomic values, the history of which dates back thousands of years. Georgian endemic species represent the best breeding material of the world's wheat varietal diversity. The latest interdisciplinary research confirms their unique nutritional values as a key component of human health care, food security and sustainable food systems. The scientific reports and public discussions presented at the current conference touched on various aspects of the unique properties of Georgian wheat and confirmed the new reality of Georgian wheat," noted Professor Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Georgian legislative and local self-government, the Georgian Patriarchate, scientific, educational, academic circles, international organizations, the food and healthcare sector, and the Association of Wheat, Bread Producers and Farmers.
