The Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture will assist the Adjara Agroservice Center in the process of certifying citrus planting material

Nodar Khatiashvili, Deputy Director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture of Georgia, discussed the issues of preparatory work for the certification of planting material produced by the nurseries of the Agroservice Center at a working meeting with Raul Tavartkiladze, Director of the Agroservice Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara.

The production of certified mother material is a prerequisite for the distribution of high-quality, varietally pure and disease-free seedlings, which serves to create a reliable source of seedlings for farmers.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Division of Standardization, Certification, Planning and Economic Analysis of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, Deputy Director of the Agroservice Center Ioseb Abuladze, Head of the Agrarian Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara Levan Bolkvadze, Head of the Sectoral Development Department Jimsher Diasamidze, and Head of Programs of the Agroservice Center Lasha Meladze.

LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture of Georgia annually monitors nurseries producing planting material, which aims to comply with production standards and increase the efficiency of the certification process. For this purpose, the Center's specialists monitored the Gvara-Khutsubani vine and fruit crop nurseries and the Chakvi citrus nursery, inspected the existing planting material, relevant documentation and got acquainted with the infrastructure.

The experts positively assessed the current situation in nurseries and expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation on strengthening the certification system for mother and planting material of citrus crops.
