On October 11, Gurjaani hosted one of its most prominent events for the ninth time — the "Gurjaani Wine Festival", which serves to popularize wine tourism, highlight the importance of qvevri wine as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Site, and promote the production of local wines.

LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture of Georgia also participated in the festival, presenting wines made from unique and rare Georgian grape varieties at the Jighaura Scientific Base.

As part of the event, the head of the Center's viticulture department, David Chichua, gave a presentation on the topic: “The gene pool of Georgian local grape varieties — search, restoration, research-conservation.” After the presentation, a tasting of rare and restored Georgian grape varieties was held.
