The Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara visited the Jighaura base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture

At the Jighaura base of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, the Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Denis Salukvadze, was hosted by the Director of the Center, Levan Ujmajuridze.

The meeting focused on the existing system for the production of certified vine and fruit crop seedlings in Georgia and the ongoing work. The Minister was introduced in detail to the process of producing certified seedlings: selection of rootstock and scion material, propagation in screen greenhouses (screenhouses) and production of basic seedlings. It was noted that this process ensures the transfer of basic seedlings to qualified nurseries, which is the main basis for the development of Georgian viticulture and fruit growing.

The parties discussed the possibilities of implementing joint projects. Special attention was paid to promoting the production of certified seedlings in the Adjara region, retraining of farmers and plans for conducting trainings. The meeting was attended by Nodar Khatiashvili, Deputy Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, and representatives of relevant services of the Center.

At the Jighaura base, Denis Salukvadze visited the collections of Georgian and foreign grape varieties, mother plants of rootstocks and scions, screen greenhouses, and the Vine and Wine Museum space, and learned about the research areas of the center's activities and innovative technologies that serve to improve the quality of seedling production.
