The main directions of the Center are: Search, protection and conservation of plant and animal genetic resources; study and preservation of the local gene pool of annual and perennial crops, domestic animals, birds, fish and agricultural beneficial insects; testing and evaluation of new varieties; production of healthy seed and planting material; restoration and improvement of soil fertility; promotion of organic production, risk assessment in the areas of food safety, phytosanitary and veterinary medicine.
The center also works on the introduction of modern technologies for the storage and processing of agricultural products, the development of integrated pest, disease and weed management systems, innovative and climate-smart models of agrotechnology and strengthening the certification and standardization of agro-food products.
In addition, the Center implements international and local projects, through which it closely cooperates with research institutes, universities, international organizations and farming associations. Special attention is paid to increasing the involvement of young scientists and farmers, in order to deepen their knowledge and practical skills.
