Phytosanitary Risk Analysis Specialists of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture

The representatives of the Phytosanitary Risk Analysis and Laboratory Expertise Department of the State Institution "Republican Plant Quarantine Center" of the State Inspection of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan paid a working visit to the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture.

During the visit, the guests met with Nodar Khatiashvili, Deputy Director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, the Head of the Risk Assessment Division and the specialists of the division. The representatives of the Center introduced the phytosanitary risk analysis system implemented in Georgia and the experience of its practical implementation, which is based on international standards and modern scientific approaches, to the members of the delegation.

The guests were introduced to the main research projects implemented in Georgia in the field of phytosanitary risk assessment, including:

• ’’Phytosanitary Risk Assessment of Drosophila suzukii";
• “Phytosanitary risk assessment of Lycorma delicatula”;
• "Express risk assessment of the introduction and release of the Samurai Wasp (Trissolcus japonicus), a natural enemy of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorpha halys), into Georgia."

As part of the visit, members of the Kazakh delegation visited the Jighaura base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, where they toured the Integrated Plant Protection Research Department and learned in detail about the work of the Plant Protection Laboratory, research areas and methodologies used.

It is noteworthy that, within the framework of the visit to Georgia, the delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan also visited the LEPL National Food Agency and the LEPL State Laboratory of Agriculture, where they were introduced to the country's phytosanitary control and laboratory research system.

The visit aimed to share experiences, deepen professional ties and discuss opportunities for future cooperation in phytosanitary risk analysis.
