A delegation from African countries visited the Jighaura base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture

The Director of the Center, Levan Ujmajuridze, met with the members of the delegation from African countries and introduced them to the main directions of the Center's activities, current research projects and future priorities. The focus was on the role of science in the development of Georgia's agricultural sector, the protection of local genetic resources and the promotion of sustainable agriculture.

The guests toured the Vine and Wine Museum, where a presentation was held on the history of Georgian viticulture and winemaking, the traditional technology of winemaking in Qvevri, and the unique heritage of Georgian winemaking. The presentation was led by Nikoloz Kirvalidze, Senior Specialist of the Center's Viticulture and Winemaking Research Division.

At the end of the visit, a tasting of wines made from rare Georgian grape varieties was held, during which the delegation members learned about the varietal diversity of Georgian grapes, their specific properties, and the centuries-old tradition of making wine in Qvevri.

It is noteworthy that within the framework of the professional development program organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visiting of civil servants from African countries were in Tbilisi from December 8 to 18 and were introduced to the activities of various sectors and institutions.
