In order to study and inventory the general condition of Georgian soils, in 2025, 25,000 hectares of agricultural land were surveyed

In 2025, the Soil Fertility Research Division of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture studied 25,000 hectares of soil in seven municipalities, and 413 soil samples were analyzed for physical, chemical, and physicochemical characteristics in laboratory conditions. The data obtained were placed in a unified electronic database, on the basis of which thematic soil maps are being processed.

Based on the research results, more than 200 farmers were provided with recommendations for improving soil fertility, including for the production of vines and wheat crops, which practically contributes to the efficient and sustainable use of land resources.

The laboratory has been implementing the project "Study of the General Condition of Soils in Georgia" since 2016, the goal of which is to study, assess the general condition of soils in Georgia and create relevant thematic digital maps. During this period, more than 250,000 hectares of agricultural land have been inventoried and studied.
