The Students of the 10th grade from ,,Eruditi’’ School conducted a visit to the Jighaura Base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture
10th-grade students from ,,Eruditi’’ School visited the Jighaura Base of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, where they were introduced to the practical and research directions of agricultural science.
The students toured the fruit and grapevine collection plantations at the base, as well as the Vine and Wine Museum. Zviad Bobokashvili, Head of the Fruit Crops Research Division, provided them with a detailed overview of the varieties featured in the orchard, the significance of the collection and their agrotechnical characteristics. During the meeting, he conducted a practical demonstration of pruning and shaping techniques and explained the core principles of modern orchard management.
Nikoloz Kirvalidze, Chief Specialist of the Viticulture and Winemaking Research Division, spoke to the students about Georgia's centuries-old history and tradition of viticulture and winemaking. He also introduced them to the ampelographic collection at the Jighaura Base, the significance of indigenous Georgian grapevine varieties, and the research efforts dedicated to the protection and conservation of genetic resources.
Such educational visits are particularly important for stimulating interest in agriculture among young people and promoting engagement in agricultural sciences.
