International Day of Bee Protection Day was celebrated in Sagaredjo

International Day of Bee Protection is celebrated in the world since 2008 and its purpose is to attract public attention to the massive disappearance of the bee.

In the celebration of the International Day of Bee protection, LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture was involved. At present, from 20% to 80% of the world’s bee populations are disappeared.

Within the scope of the event, the specialists from the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture met with the beekeepers of Sagaredjo region and informed locals about preventive measures against bee diseases, autumn works and bee food base. The specialists visited farms and consulted the farmers.

The beekeepers have been informed about the arrangement of apiary, bee diseases and the fight against them, as well as on modern standards in beekeeping.

Nowadays, in Georgia, 40-50 thousand beekeepers are at present. In the direction of beekeeping, the most developed regions of beekeeping are Adjara, Imereti, Samegrelo, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti. Beekeeping in Georgia is an economically efficient field of agriculture and has a growing export potential.
