There was a discussion about the prospects of Georgia’s viticulture and winemaking at the International Conference

The International Conference "Viticulture and Winemaking in European Countries, Historical Aspects and Prospects" was held with the financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation in the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Georgia. The conference was attended by scholars from different countries, including Ukraine, Estonia, France, Romania and Spain.

The Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture and other employees of the center made the report at the International Scientific Conference. Levan Ujmajuridze talked about the history of Georgian vine, diversity of species and the achievements of the center in this direction. As Levan Ujmajuridze noted, the history of Georgian wine is 8000 years old and today it is one of the leading directions of agriculture.

Within the framework of the conference, winemakers of various countries visited the demonstrative plot of Jighaura of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture in order to get acquainted with Georgian viticulture and winemaking. Winemakers viewed vineyards and fruit collection plots on the base, tasted wines from Georgian rare varieties and participated in the process of dipping the sweets made from Georgian grapes called Churchkela.
